We are seeking a highly motivated Site Safety Specialist to join our team. The Site Safety Specialist will work under the direction of the Safety Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular walk-through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with laws and Company policies.
- Identify, document, and recommend abatement of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions and follow-up to ensure timely hazard abatement.
- Utilize internal safety management systems and tools to write reports to field supervisory and project management staff detailing hazards and abatement techniques.
- Conduct new hire orientation and drug screening.
- Monitor prime contractor and/or subcontractor’s safety programs.
- Attend pre-planning and progress meetings to coordinate project-specific safety protocol.
- Conduct on-site safety-related toolbox talks as well as project safety committee meetings.
- Investigate work-site safety accidents and confer supervisor to determine root cause and discuss recommendations for changes in work processes to eliminate recurrence.
- Monitor medical treatment of injured employee to ensure that the worker attends treatment and is returned to work at some capacity in a timely manner, and compile progress summary reports of injuries for supervisor.
- Ensure proper file documentation and reporting from field management.
- Monitor site safety incentive program.
- Develops Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) to support field operations and development of standard operating procedures.
- Provide internal and external support for claims of machine damage, project site losses, theft and vandalism, public utility damage, company fleet damage, rolling stock damage, third party damages, and occupational injury claims.
- Work with Claim Leadership and other teams to achieve departmental and corporate goals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a passion to learn
- Good organization skills and follow through
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred
Education and Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: Minimum two years in the construction industry
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
• Prolonged periods of sitting
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Office-based work with varying temperatures.
• Travel to jobsites with fluctuations in weather.
Job Type: Full-time, exempt
Salary: $45,000 to $65,000 Based on experience
