We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estimator with Bridge and Roadway experience to join our team in our Castle Rock, CO office. Experience in bridge construction and bidding public sector roadway work required.
The Estimator will work under the direction of the Senior Estimator. The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple projects at the same time. Must have working knowledge of bridge construction and understand best practices in roadway/heavy highway construction.
Responsibilities:
Estimating & Bid Preparation
Prepare heavy highway and bridge estimates in accordance with bid procedures, plans, and specifications
Review all plans, specifications, drawings, and Owner requirements in detail
Perform quantity takeoffs for both self-performed and subcontracted scopes of work
Prepare complete bid proposals including cost breakdowns, clarifications, scope, and exclusions
Assist with pricing of drawings, plan revisions, and owner/subcontractor change orders, including written narratives and drawing overlays
Provide value engineering recommendations where applicable
Prepare and manage Owner/PM bid books and estimate handoffs to project management
Subcontractor & Supplier Management
Develop and maintain call lists; follow up to ensure adequate bid coverage
Solicit, evaluate, and respond to subcontractor quotes and inquiries
Prepare subcontractor comparison sheets for bid evaluation
Process and distribute all addenda to subcontractors and suppliers
Acquire bid bonds from bonding company as required
Assist in job purchasing decisions and post-bid buyouts
Relationships & Communication
Maintain positive, professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
Collaborate effectively with project management during estimate handoff and buyout phases
Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven experience in bridge construction estimating and public sector roadway/heavy highway bidding required
Strong working knowledge of bridge construction methods and best practices in heavy highway construction
Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight bid deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and HCSS (Heavy Bid, Heavy Job) or similar estimating software
Strong negotiation skills and extreme attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Superior client and subcontractor relationship management skills
Education and Experience:
Education: Minimum High school diploma/GED required.
Experience: 5+ years of experience with Civil and/or Heavy Highway Construction. Field experience prior to management/estimating a plus.

Office Roles:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Climate-controlled office environment with varying temperatures
Occasional travel to jobsites with exposure to fluctuating weather conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
Majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
Some Saturday work is required; Sundays are rarely needed
