We are in search of dedicated and experienced Pipelayers to join our construction teams. As a pipelayer at HEI, you will play a crucial role in the execution of our construction projects. Whether it's roadways, bridges, or water infrastructure, your work will have a direct impact on the success and timeliness of our projects
Responsibilities:
Set proper grades and elevations i.e. flowline, grade stick, string line
Check slopes for conformance to grading elevations, using levels or lasers
Connect bell and spigot, sewer and water pipelines
Cover pipes with aggregate and native material and compact
Hand dig bell holes to verify existing utility locations
Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools
Install and repair water, storm-water and sewer structures and pipe systems within trench shoring shields
Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors
Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes and behaviors
Ability to take direction from the Foreman and provide support to peers
Work safely while adhering to HEI requirements and OSHA regulations
Maintain dependability and responsibility to be at work on time
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
General knowledge of underground utility work including materials, methods, and tools involved in the installation
Track record of performing similar tasks safely and accurately
Ability to repetitively lift and carry at least 60 lbs. on a consistent basis
Must have flexibility to work nights and weekends
Education and Experience:
Education: GED or high school diploma
Experience: 1 year experience is preferred; but not required
Pay:$22+ per hour; Based on Experience

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

Office Roles:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Climate-controlled office environment with varying temperatures
Occasional travel to jobsites with exposure to fluctuating weather conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
Majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
Some Saturday work is required; Sundays are rarely needed
