We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Shared Services Accountant to join our team in our Castle Rock, CO office. The Senior Shared Services Accountant prepares accounting records and assists the Enterprise Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the corporate accounting department. Key purpose is to prepare, analyze, and interpret accounting records and financial reports and communicate results to internal and external customers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
General Accounting
Support the controller with a wide variety of accounting tasks including transactional processing, and analysis; treasury and banking; audit/tax support; various ad hoc reporting responsibilities; and the implementation of financial and compliance controls.
Manage the full monthly closing process including journal entries, balance sheet reconcilements, analysis, financial entries, and reports for review with the Controller to ensure all are within accounting standards of accuracy and completeness.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately in accordance with GAAP.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany accounts on a monthly basis.
Assist in the preparation and analysis of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Support division accounting teams as needed to train personnel or fill temporary needs in completion of regular accounting tasks or special projects.
Assist with annual audit preparation and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Oversee SS accounts payable processes including invoice coding, approval workflows, and payment runs.
Manage receivables, including internal health benefit plan and commercial insurance billing, and collections follow-up.
Manage corporate credit card transaction processing and oversee the timely collection of complete and accurate support from cardholders.
Track, reconcile, and prepare internal invoices for shared cost and allocated expenses.
Maintain vendor records and ensure W-9 / 1099 compliance.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare monthly analysis and quarterly financial reports for management review
Manage SS and HEI Holdings treasury activities and prepare SS cash flow projections and consolidated Enterprise projections.
Prepare monthly Lien Risk reports, analyze details, and follow-up with responsible parties for collection status and additional information as needed.
Effectively communicate with peers, customers, leadership, and division personnel to facilitate informed decision making.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrate professional qualities (e.g. tone of communication and work ethic) of an accountant to promote collaboration amongst colleagues and outside personnel.
Highly detailed and organized with ability to think critically, manage and prioritize workload.
Proven ability to work independently and ability to meet deadlines with sense of urgency and efficiency.
Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
Strong Excel and accounting system experience.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to identify/analyze problems and recommend solutions.
Proven ability to work collaboratively as needed with different levels of employees.
Knowledge of Viewpoint/Spectrum is a plus.
Strong Excel/MS Office skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, advanced degree or CPA is a plus.
Experience: Minimum 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in
construction accounting.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily office-based with potential travel to other divisions.
Standard office hours with additional hours required during month-end close and other key reporting periods.
Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer workstation.
Salary: $80K - $110K based on experience.
